Addressing COVID-19 Vaccination Challenges for Uninsured Americans

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has launched the Bridge Access Program, a public-private partnership aimed at providing free COVID-19 vaccines to uninsured Americans. With an estimated 25-30 million adults at risk of losing access to affordable vaccines, the program will distribute doses through local pharmacies, public health infrastructure, and health centers. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will oversee the program, which is set to run until December 2024. In the meantime, the CDC is also working on a longer-term solution called the Vaccines for Adults program, which would cover all recommended vaccinations for uninsured adults.
