2023 James Beard Awards Finalists Announced, Including Metro Detroit, US, Seattle, and Idaho Chefs and Restaurants.

Five metro Detroit chefs and establishments have been named as nominees for the James Beard Foundation Awards, including Hajime Sato for Outstanding Chef, Spencer for Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program, and Sarah Welch, Andy Hollyday, and Omar Anani for Best Chef in the Great Lakes region. A win for any of the chefs would make a two-time winning streak for a Detroit chef, following Warda Bouguettaya’s win for Outstanding Pastry Chef last year. The awards will be livestreamed on eater.com on June 5.
