Temporary Suspension of Light Rail Services Begins Friday

Maryland Transit Administration has announced the suspension of Light Rail services starting Friday due to safety concerns. Inspections following a fire event in October revealed punctured high voltage conduits on the vehicles, and issues with the cables connecting the Light Rail cars have caused six smoke events since November. While the risk level remains acceptable, the suspension is being implemented out of caution to expedite the inspection and repair of the entire Light Rail fleet. Shuttle bus service will be available at all Light Rail stops during the suspension.
