US biotech startup Colossal, known as the "de-extinction company," is collaborating with Elephant Havens, a wildlife foundation in Botswana, to monitor orphaned elephants using artificial intelligence (AI). The data gathered from the elephants' behavior and genomic information will help Colossal in its audacious plan to create a genetically engineered Asian elephant-mammoth hybrid and reintroduce it to the Arctic tundra. The collaboration aims to provide insights into how these animals can live in the wild and potentially contribute to the conservation of elephants.
