Lawsuit Alleges Humana's AI Denies Care to Medicare Advantage Beneficiaries

Medicare Advantage beneficiaries have filed a class-action lawsuit against health insurance giant Humana, alleging that the company illegally used an algorithm called nH Predict to prematurely deny payment for rehabilitation care to patients who suffered serious illnesses and injuries. The lawsuit claims that Humana's reliance on the algorithm was part of a fraudulent scheme to systematically deny claims to desperately ill individuals. This is the second lawsuit filed following an investigation that revealed Medicare Advantage insurers nationwide are using the algorithm to cut off patients' rehab care, forcing them to forgo treatment or pay significant out-of-pocket expenses.
