Hepatitis A Outbreak Linked to Frozen Fruit Recall

Organic frozen strawberries from California Splendor and Scenic Fruit have been recalled after at least five people were believed to have contracted Hepatitis A from eating them. Hepatitis A can be spread by contaminated fecal matter and poor hygiene. Strawberries are especially vulnerable to contamination due to being gathered by hand, having no natural barriers, and not being cooked before eaten. The recall should prompt some to consider more carefully what they eat and from where they get it.
