CDC Warns of Listeria Outbreak in Peaches, Nectarines, and Plums

The CDC has issued a food safety alert linking peaches, nectarines, and plums to a Listeria outbreak. HMC Farms voluntarily recalled the fruits sold between May 1 and November 15, 2022, and between May 1 and November 15, 2023. The recall includes two-pound bags branded "HMC Farms" or "Signature Farms" and individual fruits with specific stickers. Listeria monocytogenes, a potentially fatal organism, can cause serious infections, especially in vulnerable individuals. The CDC advises consumers to avoid consuming the recalled fruits, clean affected surfaces, and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms. Investigations are ongoing to determine if other fruit or products made with these fruits may also be contaminated.
