"Multiple Retailers Issue Recalls Over Listeria Contamination Concerns"

Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of certain salad kits due to potential cross contamination with cheeses recalled for possible listeria contamination. The affected products were sold in 25 states and several Canadian provinces, and customers are advised to dispose of them immediately. The recall stems from a previous recall by cheese supplier Rizo-López Foods, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a food safety alert for the recalled cheeses potentially linked to a multistate outbreak of listeria. Listeria can cause severe illness, particularly in pregnant individuals, those aged 65 or older, and those with weakened immune systems.
