FDA Appoints James Jones as Deputy Commissioner to Oversee Unified Human Foods Program

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has appointed James "Jim" Jones as the first Deputy Commissioner for Human Foods, a new executive position that will oversee the proposed unified Human Foods Program (HFP). The program aims to address food safety, chemical safety, innovative food products, and nutrition to improve health equity and strengthen the U.S. food supply in the face of climate change and globalization. Jones, who has extensive experience in managing chemical safety and sustainability, will begin his role on September 24. His appointment is part of the FDA's efforts to reorganize and enhance its regulatory capabilities in the food sector.
