Ripple is calling for an investigation into former SEC official William Hinman after documents released in an ongoing lawsuit against Ripple showed behind-the-scenes edits and correspondence about a 2018 speech on crypto regulation. Ripple's Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty said an investigation must be conducted to understand what or who influenced Hinman, why conflicts were ignored, and why the SEC touted the speech knowing it would create "greater confusion." Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse called it "absolutely unconscionable" that Hinman moved forward with the speech despite pushback and threw the industry into chaos.
