Rochester Residents Fall Victim to Various Scams

A 25-year-old Rochester man lost over $2,400 in a phone scam after he agreed to translate a call for a restaurant hostess. The caller claimed to be from Federal Express International and asked the man to pay for delivery fees through an app called Remitly. The man transferred his own money from an ATM to bitcoin and later found out that more than $2,400 had been taken out of his account. The scammers attempted to take another $500, but there was nothing left for them to take. The man has not received his money back yet.
