Volkswagen recalls 143k SUVs over faulty front passenger airbags.

Volkswagen is recalling over 143,000 SUVs due to an issue that could affect the deployment of the front passenger airbag. The passenger occupant detection systems in the affected SUVs could deactivate the airbag even when the seat is occupied, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash. The recall affects Atlas models from 2018 to 2021 and Atlas Cross Sport models from 2020. Owners will be notified by mail in May, and the front passenger seat should not be used until the issue is fixed. Volkswagen will offer a reimbursement plan under the recall.
