The Race to Replicate Tesla's 'Gigacasting'.

Toyota is adopting Tesla's "Gigacasting" technology to improve the performance and lower the cost of future electric vehicles. Gigacasting is the use of aluminum die-casting machines that can produce larger parts than previously used in auto manufacturing, resulting in fewer parts, lower costs, and a simplified production line. Other automakers, including General Motors, Hyundai, and affiliates of China's Geely, are also using or planning to use the technology. However, the cost of investment and potential difficulty in repairing cars with body sections cast into single pieces could be a challenge for legacy automakers with more complicated product lineups.
