NHTSA is concerned about the safety implications of this feature and has requested information on how many cars and drivers have been authorized to use it. Tesla has been given until August 25 to provide the requested information. The company's response has been granted confidential treatment. NHTSA is also investigating several crashes involving Tesla vehicles and their Autopilot systems.
