Russian Writer Survives Car Bomb Attack Blamed on U.S. and Ukraine
Russian nationalist writer Zakhar Prilepin survived a car bomb attack that killed his driver and broke both his legs. Moscow blamed the United States and Ukraine for the attack, while Ukraine denied involvement and suggested that Russian authorities staged the attack. Prilepin said he was driving and had dropped his daughter off five minutes earlier when a mine detonated under the wheel on the passenger side where his driver was sitting. The man responsible fled after exploding the first of two mines.
