"Texas Election Challenges Jeopardize Tax Cuts and Teacher Pensions"

Lawsuits based on false claims about voting equipment in Texas could delay cost of living increases for retired teachers and property tax cuts for homeowners. The lawsuits, filed by right-wing activists, challenge the results of the November constitutional amendment election. If not resolved quickly, the delays could have negative implications for millions of Texans. Lawmakers are scrambling to address the challenges, with a bill introduced to compress the timeline for hearing the challenges. The bill must be passed by both chambers and added to the special session's agenda by Governor Greg Abbott. The lawsuits also threaten to undermine trust in elections and could impact the first pension raise for retired teachers in nearly 20 years.

Arizona Governor Hobbs Vetoes Multiple Controversial Bills.

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has vetoed four election bills passed by the state legislature, including one that would have allowed political party-appointed individuals to observe the signature verification process and another that would have required the secretary of state to recuse themselves from overseeing elections in which they are a candidate. Hobbs also vetoed a bill that would have released more voter registration and ballot image data to the public and another that would have required 100% of the components of a voting or tabulating machine to be sourced in the United States, which she said could create a situation where Arizona’s election administrators are no longer able to procure certifiable voting and tabulating equipment.

"Controversial Michigan Clerk Recalled Over Mishandling Voting Equipment"

Stephanie Scott, a Republican township clerk in Michigan's conservative Adams Township, has been recalled after being accused of mishandling voting equipment and casting doubt on President Biden's election victory in 2020. Scott was defeated by independent Suzy Roberts in the recall election. The Michigan Bureau of Elections prohibited Scott from administering the November 2021 election after she failed to comply with state requirements regarding voting equipment. Scott had various QAnon material on her social media account and feared the county would erase information on the equipment related to the 2020 presidential election. Biden won Michigan's 2020 election by 154,000 votes over Trump.
