"Vessel Shortages and Policy Reset: Challenges and Opportunities for Offshore Wind Projects"

Ørsted has abandoned its Ocean Wind 1 offshore wind farm in the US due to supply chain bottlenecks, primarily vessel shortages, which have also affected its Revolution Wind and Sunrise Wind projects in the US, as well as the Changhua 1 and 2a projects in Taiwan. The company cited vessel availability as the main stumbling block and expects a longer timeline for Revolution Wind and Sunrise Wind. Additionally, the completion of the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a wind farm in Taiwan has been pushed back to early 2024 due to delays in installing the remaining wind turbines.
