The MEA is actively involved in the case and is working with the investigative authorities.

Police Discover Blood Stains and Weapons in Atiq Ahmed's Office

Bloodstains and a knife were found inside the partially demolished office of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, who was shot dead earlier this month. The police are investigating the matter, and CCTV footage will also be examined. Additionally, a two-member judicial commission has been constituted to probe the killing of Atiq Ahmed's son Asad in an encounter in the state. Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead by men posing as mediapersons on April 15 night while being taken for a medical examination in Prayagraj.

Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were gunned down in Uttar Pradesh, just a day after Atiq's son was killed in an encounter with the police. Atiq was a co-accused in the 2005 Raju Pal murder case and had been ensconced in Sabarmati jail in Gujarat until March. In the past couple of months, the UP government had cracked down on properties allegedly belonging to Atiq's aides, and several people linked to the Raju Pal case had been killed in encounters with the police. Atiq and two others were found guilty in the Umesh Pal kidnapping case and sentenced to life imprisonment on 28 March.

Controversy Surrounds Burial of Gangster-Turned-Politician's Son in UP

Uttar Pradesh Police tried to capture gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed's son Asad Ahmed and his accomplice Ghulam alive during the encounter in Jhansi but they opened indiscriminate fire at STF officials and were killed in retaliatory firing. Asad and Ghulam were accused in the Umesh Pal murder case and carried a bounty of Rs 5 lakh each. They had been absconding ever since Umesh Pal, a key witness in then BSP MLA Raju Pal's murder case in 2005, was killed in February outside his home in Prayagraj.
