D-Day veterans honored on 79th anniversary at Utah Beach.

World War II veterans returned to Utah Beach and other key battle sites in Normandy to mark the 79th anniversary of D-Day. The veterans shared vivid memories of the fighting and were greeted with warm welcomes from local French people. More than 40 American veterans formed a parade in the small town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise, where thousands of paratroopers jumped on June 6, 1944. The veterans will take part in official ceremonies on Tuesday, including at the Normandy American Cemetery. On D-Day, Allied troops landed on the beaches code-named Omaha, Utah, Juno, Sword, and Gold, with 4,414 Allied soldiers losing their lives.
