US holidaymakers are traveling to Europe in large numbers, raising concerns about overtourism and its impact on popular destinations.

The European Union is planning to implement new travel document requirements through the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), which would require U.S. travelers with passports to fill out an online visa application before entering the EU. The proposed system, currently scheduled for January 2024, would cost $8 per traveler and could lead to delays and complications for Americans traveling to Europe.
