"Enormous Dinosaur-Era Superstructure Unearthed in Pacific Ocean"
Scientists have discovered a massive Pacific plateau, the Melanesian Border Plateau, larger than the US state of Idaho, that has been growing on the sea floor near Fiji since the age of dinosaurs. Research suggests it formed through four separate pulses of volcanism and continues to grow to this day. The plateau began forming 120 million years ago and its history is more complex than previously thought, shedding light on the poorly understood nature of underwater volcanic features.
