New Tyrannosauroid Discovery in Mongolia Reshapes T. rex Evolution
Scientists have discovered a new tyrannosauroid species in Mongolia, named Khankhuuluu mongoliensis, which is the closest known ancestor to T. rex. This medium-sized predator lived around 86 million years ago during the Cretaceous period and provides insight into the evolution of tyrannosaurs, including their migration from Asia to North America and their development into apex predators like T. rex.
