Tropical Storm Jose Joins Atlantic's Growing System Cluster

Tropical Storm Jose has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, becoming the third named storm of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season. With maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, Jose is expected to be absorbed by Hurricane Franklin by the weekend through a phenomenon called the Fujiwhara effect, where two storms orbit around a shared center point. Franklin, the stronger storm, will absorb Jose, resulting in its demise. This comes as Hurricane Idalia battered the Carolina coast and another storm, Idalia, made landfall in Florida's Gulf Coast.
