"Tropical Storm Emily Emerges in the Atlantic Ocean"
Tropical Storm Emily has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, becoming the fifth named storm of the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane season. It is one of five disturbances being monitored by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in the Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico, but is expected to be short-lived with no impact on Florida. Emily's center is located about 1000 miles west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, moving west-northwest at 10 mph. The storm has maximum sustained winds of at least 50 mph, but is forecasted to weaken and become a post-tropical remnant low by Tuesday. No watches or warnings have been issued, and the NHC is also monitoring other systems in the Atlantic.
