"Rising Mpox Infections Prompt Urgent Vaccination Warnings"
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the number of mpox cases in the United States has nearly doubled compared to last year, with 511 cases reported so far this year. Transmission rates are rising, while vaccination rates remain low, leaving many at risk. Health officials are concerned about the potential for increased cases, especially with the emergence of a more transmissible and severe subtype of the virus. Men who have sex with men and those with HIV are particularly at risk, and vaccination coverage remains below 25% in most states.
