Newly Discovered Exoplanet Defies Expectations with Massive Size and Density

Using NASA's TESS, astronomers have discovered a new exoplanet, TOI-4603 b, which is the size of Jupiter and 13 times more massive than the solar system's biggest planet. The planet has a radius of approximately 1.04 Jupiter radii and its mass is estimated to be about 12.89 Jupiter masses, which yields a density at a level of 14.1 g/cm3. The planet orbits its host every 7.24 days, at a distance of some 0.09 AU from it. The orbit of TOI-4603 b is eccentric, suggesting that the planet is likely undergoing the so-called high eccentricity tidal migration.
