CDC confirms first cases of drug-resistant ringworm in US
Two patients in New York City have been diagnosed with treatment-resistant Tinea indotineae, a highly contagious and widespread form of ringworm that does not respond to standard antifungal medications. This marks the first time the infection has been reported in the United States. Health care providers should consider Tinea indotineae as a diagnosis when first-line medications and antifungal agents do not relieve symptoms, and any provider who suspects this infection should contact public health officials.
