Sports Illustrated Publisher Fires CEO Over AI-Generated Fake Stories Scandal
The CEO of Sports Illustrated publisher The Arena Group, Ross Levinsohn, has been fired by the company's board of directors, following the controversy surrounding the publication's use of artificial intelligence (AI) to generate poorly-written product reviews with fake authors. Manoj Bhargava, founder of 5-Hour Energy and a majority investor in The Arena Group, will serve as the interim CEO. The firing of Levinsohn is said to be part of a broader effort to improve the company's operational efficiency and revenue. The AI-generated stories, which were exposed by news site Futurism, have since been removed from Sports Illustrated's website.
