Teen Hacker Behind Grand Theft Auto VI Breach Receives Indefinite Hospital Sentence

An 18-year-old hacker with acute autism, Arion Kurtaj, has been sentenced to an indefinite period at a hospital in the UK for his involvement in hacking Rockstar Games, the company behind the Grand Theft Auto series. Kurtaj, part of a cybercriminal group called Lapsus$, managed to hack into Rockstar using his smartphone, an Amazon Firestick, and the TV in his hotel room while under police protection at a Travelodge hotel. Due to his skill set and continued hacking activities while on parole, the judge deemed him a risk and sentenced him to the hospital until doctors determine he is no longer a danger.

The U.S. Department of Justice is seeking to seize $5.2 million in Bitcoin from a teenage hacker who stole the cryptocurrency from crypto executives in 2016. The hacker, Ahmad Wagaafe Hared, was involved in a SIM-swapping scheme where he tricked cell phone carriers into handing over control of the victims' phones. Hared also purchased a sports car with the stolen Bitcoin. The scheme was uncovered in 2019, leading to the arrest of Hared and his co-conspirator.

Teen Hacker Exposes GTA 6 Footage Using Amazon Fire Stick, Rockstar Games in Shock

A member of the hacking group Lapsus$, Arion Kurtaj, used an Amazon Fire TV Stick, a smartphone, keyboard, and mouse to breach Rockstar Games and leak videos from the highly anticipated game GTA 6. Despite being placed in a UK hotel room for his safety, Kurtaj ingeniously bypassed internet restrictions using the Fire TV Stick. Kurtaj and another 17-year-old, both with autism, were found guilty of hacking Rockstar, neobank Revolut, and Uber. The Lapsus$ group, consisting mainly of teenagers from Brazil and the UK, has allegedly hacked companies like Samsung, T-Mobile, and Microsoft, demanding ransoms.
