Iranian Navy Fires Shots at Chevron VLCC in Strait of Hormuz
The Iranian navy reportedly fired shots at a laden Chevron tanker in the Gulf of Oman, 28 nautical miles northeast of Muscat, Oman. The tanker, believed to be the Richmond Voyager, was heading from Saudi Arabia to Singapore. Shots were aimed at the funnel of the vessel, which increased speed and changed direction. A coalition warship intervened, warning the Iranian navy to halt the harassment. Tensions in the region have been high since Iran seized several foreign vessels in recent months.
