NASA's Parker Probe Targets Historic Sun Touchdown in 2024
NASA's Parker Solar Probe is set to make history with a "Sun landing" in December 2024, coming within 6.1 million kilometers of the Sun's surface at speeds of 435,000 mph. This close approach, likened to the significance of the 1969 Moon landing, will see the spacecraft endure temperatures of around 1,400C. The mission, launched in 2018, aims to make multiple close encounters with the Sun to gather unprecedented data about our star.
