Rabies-Infected Kitten Spotted in Ocklawaha Prairie Restoration Area
The Douglas County Health Department in Nebraska is warning the public to be cautious around stray animals after a stray kitten in the county tested positive for rabies. Ten people may have been exposed and have started treatment. The kitten, believed to be one or two months old, had a raccoon variant of rabies, which is uncommon in the area. If anyone encounters animals behaving strangely, they are advised to contact the Nebraska Humane Society and ensure their pets are up-to-date on vaccinations.
