Ukraine's Storm Shadow missile faces Russian adaptation
Ukraine's use of the Storm Shadow cruise missile has been effective in striking important targets deep inside Russian-held territory. However, Russia has adapted to the missile's capabilities, limiting its impact. The Russian military has employed electronic warfare and relocated logistical sites and headquarters to mitigate the effectiveness of the missile. While Storm Shadow strikes have been reported, they have not had a significant impact on the Russian forces. Ukraine's use of long-range weapons faces limitations due to limited supply and vulnerability of aircraft in contested airspace. The introduction of the US-made MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) could potentially reshape the conflict, but history suggests that Russia will adapt to new weapons. The question remains whether these long-range weapons will have a profound impact on the conflict in Ukraine's favor.
