2028 LA Olympics to Feature Cricket, Flag Football, Lacrosse, and Squash

Cricket, flag football, lacrosse, squash, and baseball-softball have been added to the schedule for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, in an effort to attract new viewers. The selection of these sports aims to showcase iconic American sports while bringing international sports to the United States. Cricket will be played for the first time since 1900, with a shorter T20 variation. Lacrosse will make a comeback with a fast-paced version called sixes, highlighting its Indigenous North American roots. Flag football, a non-contact version of American football, and squash, played by 20 million players worldwide, will also debut at the Olympics. Baseball-softball, previously played on and off, will return after being excluded from the 2024 Paris Games.
