Ukraine Officer Implicated in Nord Stream Sabotage: Reports
A joint investigation by The Washington Post and Der Spiegel has identified a Ukrainian special forces commander, Roman Chervinsky, as playing a key role in sabotaging the Nord Stream gas pipelines in September 2020. Chervinsky, who denies any involvement, allegedly oversaw logistics and support for a team that placed explosive charges on the pipelines, causing ruptures and gas leaks. The operation was reportedly designed to keep Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the dark, and Chervinsky took orders from more senior Ukrainian officials. The Ukrainian government has not responded to the investigation. Chervinsky is currently on trial for unrelated charges.
