Michigan Medicine and Sparrow Health Merge.
Sparrow Health System and University of Michigan Health have officially merged, giving Michigan Medicine oversight of 200-plus care sites across Michigan. The merger will not switch a patient’s care to another physician or specialist, and the Sparrow brand name will currently remain. The $800 million purchase will be funded through hospital operations and strategic investments over the next eight years. Both health systems have a goal of coordinating medical care across the state and bringing increased healthcare innovation to Mid-Michigan and beyond.
