Surge in COVID cases sweeps through Southwest Ohio and Kentucky

COVID cases are on the rise in Southwest Ohio and Kentucky, with weekly cases in Southwest Ohio up 6.8 times per week since June. The seven-day average of cases in the region is the highest since February 2023. In Northern Kentucky, cases are also increasing, reaching the highest count since mid-February. Severe weather alert: Tornado watch issued for multiple states.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of Southeast Indiana, Northern Kentucky, and Southwest Ohio until 11 p.m. An enhanced risk was issued for the Cincinnati area for strong to severe thunderstorms, large hail, and a possible isolated tornado.
