Southeast Virginia braces for lighter snowfall as Nor'easter approaches
Forecasters trimmed snowfall expectations for southeastern Virginia ahead of a weekend Nor'easter, with Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach likely to see about 3–4 inches, while northeastern North Carolina could get 7–9 inches or more. The Peninsula is expected to fare better (Williamsburg about an inch; Newport News and Hampton 2–3 inches). Snow should begin Saturday afternoon, peak early Sunday, and end Sunday morning. A winter storm warning and high wind advisories remain in effect, withgusts of 58–60 mph along the coast, possible whiteout conditions, dangerous wind chills, and potential tidal flooding. Local crews are pre-treating roads and some ferry service could be suspended.
