New Giant Pandas Arriving at D.C.'s National Zoo
The Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington DC will soon welcome a new pair of giant pandas from China, marking a continuation of the long-standing practice of panda diplomacy between the two nations. The two-year-old pandas, Bao Li and Qing Bao, are set to arrive later this year under a new agreement with the China Wildlife Conservation Association. Despite tense US-China relations, this move symbolizes ongoing collaboration in wildlife conservation. The pandas and any offspring will remain under Chinese ownership, with cubs returning to China by age four.
