Samsung is rumored to launch its Exynos 2500, built on a second-generation 3nm process, alongside the Galaxy S25 series, potentially outperforming Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The new SoC is expected to offer improved power efficiency and performance, possibly due to Samsung's advanced packaging technology. However, the company needs to address yield problems with its 3nm process to keep production costs in check.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is rumored to be more expensive than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which was priced at $160. This puts Qualcomm's partners, including Samsung, in a difficult position. They may have to choose between using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to save costs or switching to MediaTek's Dimensity range. The upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be costly due to the switch to TSMC's 4nm N4P process. While MediaTek's Dimensity 9300 offers advantages such as support for faster LPDDR5T RAM, Qualcomm's market dominance and brand recognition may still make it challenging to challenge their position.
