"Surprising Sleep Behaviors: Driving and Sex"
A new study from Semmelweis University in Budapest found that women are twice as likely to perform complex activities while sleepwalking compared to men, and younger adults and children are more likely to sleepwalk than older people. Parasomnias, such as sleepwalking, crying or laughing, and speaking in full sentences or gibberish, were observed in a study of 224 videos from YouTube. The causes of parasomnias vary and can include incomplete transition from wakefulness to sleep, lack of sleep, medications, genetics, health issues, stress, and substance abuse. Sexsomnia, a form of parasomnia, can pose problems for sleepers and their partners, with some cases leading to legal issues.
