New research from Northwestern University has revealed a previously unknown connection between the BCL6 gene, known for its role in immune cells, and the establishment and maintenance of skeletal muscle mass and strength in mice. The study found that the gene plays a crucial role in controlling muscle mass, impacting protein synthesis and degradation.
