Russian Volcano Causes Flight Disruptions in Alaska
Flight disruptions continue in Alaska as volcanic ash from the Shiveluch Volcano in Russia's Far East drifts over the southern part of the state. On Thursday, 51 Alaska Airlines flights were canceled, and 11 more were canceled on Friday morning. The ash cloud is being monitored, and more cancelations and delays are possible. Volcanic ash is abrasive and can cause engine failure in jets.
