"Oregon Governor Tina Kotek's Impact on Homelessness and Housing Goals"
Gov. Tina Kotek announced that Oregon exceeded its goals to add shelter beds, house people experiencing homelessness, and prevent evictions, with Multnomah County and Portland also surpassing their targets. The state's efforts were funded by a $155 million emergency allocation, leading to the creation of 1,032 low-barrier shelter beds and housing for 1,293 households. Portland's mass sleeping pod site at Clinton Triangle has shown early success, with 140 new shelter beds and individuals transitioning to permanent housing. The state plans to continue urgent shelter and housing efforts with a new executive order.
