Microsoft's October Windows Updates Cause BitLocker Recovery Issues
Microsoft warned that the October 2025 Windows security updates may cause some systems, especially Intel devices with Modern Standby support, to boot into BitLocker recovery mode, requiring users to enter their recovery key. The issue affects Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2, and Windows 10 22H2, but can be mitigated with a group policy or by contacting Microsoft Support. This bug is similar to previous issues caused by earlier updates.
