Scuba Diver Uncovers Prehistoric Mastodon Tusk off Florida Coast
A Florida man, Alex Lundberg, discovered a rare four-foot mastodon tusk while diving near Venice Beach. The tusk, verified by an expert, is estimated to be between 10,000 and 500,000 years old. Lundberg must report the find to the Florida Museum of Natural History to determine its scientific value. The tusk's discovery is notable as such fossils are uncommon in Florida.
