Beware of Cheap SATA SSDs: A Reviewer's Experience
StorageReview tested a $3 SATA SSD from Goldenfir, a brand sold on AliExpress, and found that while it does use an SSD controller and has the advertised capacity, its performance is extremely poor compared to normal-priced drives. The $3 SSD struggled to complete benchmark tests and had significantly lower IOPS and latency compared to a Kingston entry-level enterprise SATA drive. StorageReview advised against using these cheap SSDs for storing valuable data and recommended them only for temporary or non-critical storage purposes.
