A judge has sanctioned Fox News in the $1.6bn defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems, after the network withheld evidence until the eve of the trial. The judge has given Dominion a fresh chance to gather evidence and may appoint an outside investigator to probe Fox's late disclosure of evidence. Fox News and parent company Fox Corp are accused of airing false claims by former President Donald Trump and his lawyers that Dominion's voting machines were used to rig the outcome of the 2020 election. Jury selection is set to begin in the case on Thursday.

Fox News and its parent company, Fox Corp., have been sanctioned by a Delaware Superior Court Judge for withholding evidence in the Dominion defamation suit. The sanction gives Dominion a chance to conduct another deposition, at Fox’s expense. The surprise evidence and sanction comes days before the trial is scheduled to begin in the $1.6 billion defamation case Dominion Voting Systems filed against Fox News and Fox Corporation. The judge is also considering appointing a special master to investigate the Fox legal teams' actions.
