No-hitter not enough: Minor league team loses despite impressive pitching performance.

The Chattanooga Lookouts scored seven runs in the seventh and final inning of the first game of a doubleheader against the Rocket City Trash Pandas, without a single hit, to win the game. The Trash Pandas were cruising with a three-run lead and just three outs away from a no-hitter, but their pitcher Ben Joyce walked the bases loaded and then hit three batters, allowing the Lookouts to score seven runs. The Trash Pandas scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh but ultimately lost the game.

The Los Angeles Angels' Double-A affiliate, the Rocket City Trash Pandas, threw a seven-inning no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds' Chattanooga Lookouts but still lost 7-5 due to wildness in the seventh inning. The Trash Pandas walked five, hit four batters, and threw a run-scoring wild pitch in the inning, and were hurt by a dropped fly ball with the bases loaded on what would have been the final out. The team won the second game of the doubleheader 3-0 on a one-hitter.

The Rocket City Trash Pandas lost a no-hitter by giving up seven runs to the Chattanooga Lookouts in the first game of a doubleheader at Toyota Field in Madison. Rocket City led 3-0 heading into the top of the seventh and final inning after Coleman Crow no-hit the Lookouts through six. The no-hitter was the first in Minor League Baseball in 2023, and possibly the first ever at the professional level in which the team that pitched the no-no gave up as many as seven runs.
