Former Tennessee pitcher Ben Joyce makes MLB debut with Angels

The Los Angeles Angels have called up hard-throwing right-hander Ben Joyce from Double-A to replace left-hander Matt Moore, who has been placed on the 15-day IL with a right oblique strain. The Trash Pandas walked five, hit four batters, and threw a run-scoring wild pitch in the inning, and were hurt by a dropped fly ball with the bases loaded on what would have been the final out. The team won the second game of the doubleheader 3-0 on a one-hitter.

The Rocket City Trash Pandas, Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, threw a seven-inning no-hitter against the Chattanooga Lookouts, but still lost the game 7-5 after giving up seven runs in the top of the seventh inning via walks, hit batters, and errors. The Lookouts scored four runs on a dropped fly ball with the bases loaded and added three more runs via walks and wild pitches. The Trash Pandas got two runs back in the bottom of the seventh inning.
